Mandatory nesting and shelter space for sparrows, bats and swallows
In the Netherlands, construction projects and renovations should be assessed for their impact on local wildlife, including birds and bats. When applying for building permits, ecological protection measures or features, such as the installation of netting under roof tiles to provide nesting and shelter space for sparrows, bats or swallows, can be required.
Various suitable mesh
Top Zeven offers a number of plastic meshes for this application, such as types PP5230, PE 106 and PP 5323. These meshes have meshes smaller than 2 mm, are pliable and protect the roof liner and provide grip and thus living space to birds and bats residing under the roof tiles.
Also to prevent access
Plastic netting can also be installed at ventilation holes, cavity walls and other openings to prevent birds or bats from entering and nesting in areas where it may pose a danger to these animals. A suitable mesh for this application is the PE5216. This mesh has meshes of 4 x 4 mm, small enough to keep birds and bats out and large enough to provide adequate ventilation.
