Composite manufacturing (flow mesh)

Top Zeven offers a range of high-end flow mesh / net bleeder types for the manufacturing of composites through vacuum moulding or vacuum infusion. These nets are used to transport the resin evenly and with a certain speed, over the entire surface area of the composite mould.

Benefits of using flow media
Flow meshes are applicable in several situations: for instance, when the final composite product encompasses a large surface area. Or in cases where the applied moulding technique consists of using less than well-flowable materials.

Top Zeven’s flow meshes are available with the following specifications:

(continuation) In cases like those, it would be required to increase the horizontal flowability of the mould by applying a net bleeder or flow mesh.

Especially composites made with epoxy resin, as used in ship building and the manufacturing of blades for wind-turbines, benefit significantly from optimal resin flow speeds. Doubling the flow speed would halve the casting time, which greatly improves the regularity of the polyester or epoxy composite structure in the final product.
The application of a flow mesh / net bleeder reduces manufacturing time and the costs of loss or post-moulding repairs.

Top Zeven’s Flow Mesh / Net Bleeder
Top Zeven’s extruded flow meshes have been designed in such a way that they transport resin excellently, while showing optimal release properties and adequately balancing the flow capacity against resin waste. The thickness of the flow mesh in particular is determinant of the resin flow speed; so this property allows for some experimentation with mesh types, to optimise the flow speed. We offer flow meshes with a certain stiffness, as well as those that are highly flexible and adaptive to a more complex shape of the mould. Some of these meshes especially maintain their integrity at higher resin temperatures. All our flow meshes underwent a de-oiling treatment, to avoid resin contamination.

    Enhancing your composite manufacturing processes
Our customer portfolio ranges from companies involved in highly specialised applications of composites in the aerospace industry, to companies doing large scale manufacturing of ship hulls and turbine blades. Topzeven specialises in product properties and the diverse applications of nets and meshes. We would be happy to share our knowledge and experience with you, to help you improve your manufacturing process, or to advise you with regard to the overwhelming multitude of mesh and net applications available.
